Seniors Group Endorses Terry McAuliffe for Governor

For Immediate Release

Today, the Alliance for Retired Americans proudly endorsed Terry McAuliffe for election as the next Governor of Virginia.
“Terry McAuliffe is a great friend of retirees,” said Barbara J. Easterling, President of the Alliance for Retired Americans. “Terry wants to expand and strengthen Medicaid, while his opponent wants to reject help that would give 400,000 Virginians health coverage they currently don’t have. Terry also wants to improve voting for older and all Virginians, by making access to the polls easier and earlier, while his opponent has gone out of his way to restrict voting by throwing up roadblocks like voter ID laws.”
“Terry’s support for expanding Medicaid would help seniors in nursing homes,” said Ron Thompson, President of the Virginia Alliance for Retired Americans. “He also opposes repealing the Affordable Care Act, since it would cause an immediate rise in our Medicare premiums and copayments.”

“Fellow Virginia retirees, the choice is clear this year for Terry McAuliffe as Virginia’s next governor,” said Ms. Easterling. “That’s why we endorse him enthusiastically.”

The Alliance for Retired Americans represents over 4 million retirees and community activists nationwide, including 50,000 in Virginia.
The election is November 5.
